That's our governor!
Boy, Rod Blago is Looney Tunes. Boycotting his own trial because it's unfair? How much more could he act like a 5-year-old girl boycotting a trip to the mall because her mom wouldn't let her wear her favorite outfit (that example is not taken from personal experience.. no...).
So I stayed home a little later this morning to watch his interview on Today. He likens himself to a colorful cast of characters:
- Jimmy Stewart's character in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington"
- Nelson Mandela
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
- Mahatma Ghandi
I see it, personally. Being beaten and jailed in deplorable conditions. Standing up for a cause that means a better life for millions. Being jailed after getting caught red-handed using political power for personal gain. Po-ta-to, po-tah-to.
Sorry, but you should have seen the twinkle in the interviewer's eyes. I can't believe he's saying this... I can't believe he's saying this... Today, Rod was/will be a media goldmine. Only once in a blue moon do you see a high-up politician self-destruct in such a public, brazen, clueless manner. At least he's brought enough crazy for the class: scheduled interviews today on GMA, The View and Larry King.
Meanwhile, the grown-ups will sit in the Illinois Senate and begin deciding his fate. Well, before he destroys every shred of credibility he once had and eventually slinks into a shamed oblivion, at least he'll be able to say he met Whoopi Goldberg.

I couldn't do anything but gape at the TV when I watched that interview. MLK? Gandhi?
Are you freaking kidding me?
